The Essential Down Duffle is long for more coverage

To be honest, I prefer hot climates. Even though I was raised in New England and have been subjected to unusual and often frigid cold temperatures. I still haven’t got used to the cold. So looking for a warm jacket has always been a huge priority and hassle. Then I found the Essential Down Duffle made by Eddie Bauer. It actually keeps me warm, without breaking the bank.

Most winters I would be absolutely miserable,  I’d barely get to outside. I never felt like I had enough layers to be warm and cozy. But the Essential Down Duffle has 550 fill Premium European Goose Down insulation and smooth polyester lining. I could wear this jacket in the Arctic and still be active.

A couple cool features about the Essential Down Duffle is that it has a zipper and snaps. So I can rapidly protect myself from the wind. It also has a detachable hood with removable faux fur ruff and even the fur brim can be removed from the hood. And since I prefer hats than hoods, I just remove the hood all together.

I don’t do many winter activities, but I love to walk in the city. So when I’m outdoors I just feel a lightweight soft jacket that allows me move without the bulk.

I have few complaints about the Essential Down Duffle, but I do wish it was a bit shorter. I would not recommend this jacket to women 5 feet or shorter, because the jacket would certainly drag on the floor. Another issue is the hood, it is too big so the wind can easily knock it down. Also if the temperature is usually hot, I would not purchase the Essential Down Duffle. This jacket is meant for only cold conditions. Finally, the Essential Down Duffle only comes in black and cocoa.  However, it gives me an opportunity to accessorize with colors.

The Eddie Bauer Essential Down is great for outdoor gear

Pros

  • Can wear in Arctic weather
  • Cozy not bulky
  • Trusted Brand
  • Great for women taller than 5’5

Cons

  • Large hood
  • Not meant for short women

Since I haven’t purchased a great deal of Eddie Bauer’s clothing, I was pleasantly surprised that a jacket under $150 would be so functional. I may not use the Essential Down Duffle for cold weather activities, but I would recommend it. The jacket is not restricting and it has roomy pockets to safely store a phone, wallet and keys. The quality is apparent and for the cost, you can’t really go wrong.
