Garnier Fructis Anti-Frizz Serum

By: Caitlin Rojas

Garnier Fructis Anti-Frizz Serum,  from their Sleek – n – Shine line is for dry, frizzy, and unmanageable hair. According to the bottle, Garnier’s product has fancy “Nutritive Fruit Micro-Oils” that will make your hair 5x as sleek and 5x smoother than it was before. Well, considering my hair looked not unlike Rick Moranis in GhostBusters, Garnier’s serum was a welcome change.

Rick Moranis in Ghostbusters

Yeah. After he became the Gatekeeper.

The 5.1 light green bottle with a pump handle is small, easy to use, and can be put on wet or dry hair. The serum contains Argan Oil and Apricot extracts, which are high in Vitamins B3 and B6, which is good for your hair, and helps to manage and contain the monstrosity of a pixie cut atop my large head. The Garnier Fructis Anti-Frizz Serum is particularly helpful when you know you’re going to be heat-styling your hair. The serum protects delicate strands from blow-drying and straightening, and adds shine when you’re done. The scent, while a bit strong, is fantastic as well, and lasts long after you’re done applying the product to your hair. It is citrusy, grassy and light.

This serum seems perfect for those of us blessed with very dry hair, though even people with thick, long curls find it useful as well, like the lovely Olivia Munn.

Unlike me, Ms. Munn has no issues containing the frizz.

While I was in general, very happy with this product, I found that the consistency of the serum was very problematic. Its extremely wet and oily – making distribution problematic. Once you pump the serum into your hand, it basically runs everywhere and you end up splashing it into your hair, hoping for the best. This wouldn’t be so bad, except that like I said, the product is extremely oily and reflects as so in your hair. Using this stuff will make your hair really greasy, really fast.

Salons sell similar, more high-end products (see the fantastic Paul Mitchel Super Skinny Serum,) but if you’re like me, and unwilling to spend $20 on 5oz of goo for your hair, Garnier Fructis Anti-Frizz Serum is a fantastic option.
