The best part about clean laundry is that freshly washed scent.  But sometimes, the smell fades too quickly.  Other times, odors are too strong to be eliminated in one wash.  Downy Unstopables In-Wash Scent Booster provides such a long-lasting fragrance that you’ll think your clothes are fresh from the wash.

There are few things that smell as bad as pet odors.  Especially in clothes.  And I’ve found that they can take up to three normal washes to come out.  Or maybe you’ve forgotten that load of towels in the washer overnight, and now they all smell like mildew.  Or, you just love the smell of freshly washed clothes, but hate that it doesn’t last until it’s time to wear your favorite outfit.  These are all laundry problems I’ve experienced from time to time, so when I saw an ad for the Downy Unstopables In-Wash Scent Booster I had to try it immediately.  They do only come in two scents, Fresh and Lush, but they both smell good enough that that doesn’t matter.  To use, simply pour as little or as much as you want or need into your washer, regardless of whether it is a front or top load.  Pour in your soap, then add the clothes.  It’s as easy as that.  My main concern was that the beads, which are kind of big, wouldn’t all dissolve, but of course they did.  Coming out of the dryer, the laundry smelled so good and so fresh, but the best part was that that scent lasted and even helped scent my drawers and  closets.  Each 13.2 ounce bottle costs around $7, so it can be a little pricey for the amount you get, and having an extra laundry product to remember to buy and use can be less convenient than an all-in-one soap and fragrance.  The Downy website also lists comments from consumers who have found other uses for this product, such as making sachets for drawers and gym bags, or dissolving the scent-booster beads in water in a spray bottle for a homemade fabric refresher spray.  Also featured on the website is a how-to video featuring “laundry expert” and comedienne Amy Sedaris.

Pros:

  •  Smells great
  • Gets rid of tough smells
  • Long lasting scent
  • Easy to use

Cons:

  • Only two scents
  • Somewhat expensive

The Downy Unstopables In-Wash Scent Booster is a perfect laundry booster for anyone who has pets, kids, or anything else in their home that smells.  If you’re looking for a laundry scent that will last until the next wash, the $7 price is not too much to spend.

I bought the lush scent and it smells horrible. Unstopables has this weird medicated smell to it. So I can see how it prevents your clothes from getting stinky but you still end up stinking because your clothes kinda smell like medicated Gold Bond foot power. In my opinion this would only be good for some work who works out alot and gets tired of washing there workout clothes every time they exercise. It may give them an extra ware or two in the same gym clothes but that’s kinda nasty if you think about it, even if no one can smell you.
