Chances are, you know a lot of people who value their beauty rest so much that waking up in the morning is almost as horrible as getting a root canal. Or maybe that person is you. Either way, sleep is a very important part of life, and the quality of rest that you get on a nightly basis influences your health, mood and ability to function during the day. With the Lark Silent Un-Alarm Clock and Sleep Sensor 8083374, you can make the most out of your slumber and wake up (minus the loud blaring of your alarm clock) feeling refreshed.
Designed with the hard of hearing, couples or someone who shares a room with others in mind, the alarm aspect of the “un-alarm” clock exists in the form of a battery-run, Bluetooth-enabled wristband worn throughout the night that uses a virtually silent vibration in order to wake the user at a pre-set time. Don’t worry though, just in case you take the wristband off in your sleep, or if its battery dies in the middle of the night, you’ll still get your wake-up call; there is an audio backup feature that will cause a pleasant sounding alarm to go off on your phone instead.
This Lark system is not just a fancy alarm clock. It also doubles as a sleep sensor that keeps track of your sleeping patterns and rates your quality of rest on a 1-10 scale. With the help of this sensor, located inside the same wristband that wakes you up every morning, the LARK Up app (available for download in Apple’s App Store) creates a personalized breakdown of your sleeping habits. Through the app, you can also access a feature called the “Personal Sleep Coach” that will analyze patterns in the data from your nightly reports, and create a personalized plan to improve your sleep experience. Unfortunately, the Sleep Coach does cost extra.
Pros:
• User friendly
• Wristband alarm works even if your phone is off
• Provides accurate data
• Regular app updates
Cons:
• Wristband is hard to put on
• Technical issues with iPhone recognizing the Lark
• Only available for iPhone users
With a price point of $99, the Lark Silent Un-Alarm Clock and Sleep Sensor will most likely be too expensive for the person just looking for a minimally noisy way to wake up in the morning. Shake-N-Wake makes a vibrating wrist-band that is strictly an alarm clock for a fraction of the price. However, if you’re looking to improve your quality of life through your quality of sleep, then this is a product that if used often will be worth your time and money.
