Let me begin by saying that I am terrible at keeping up with my nails. I’ll painstakingly polish them and then, in the weeks to come, allow it all  to crackle off and disappear, chip by colorful chip, into a pathetic demonstration of how truly awful I am at being girly. And then, I found Sally Hansen’s Complete Salon Manicure Nail Color.

In over 35 shades, from Gray by Gray to I Pink I Can, Complete Salon Manicure gives you some options and makes maintaining your nails not so…well… painstaking. The product claims to have “All 5 Steps of a Manicure” in one bottle. And while I’m not totally sure about that – you most certainly still have to trim, file and moisturize on your own – Sally Hansen’s product definitely gives the shine and brightness of a salon manicure. It saves you the topcoat and bottom coat of clear polish and instead offers a bold, shiny finish all on its own in just two coats. The polish stays on for about a week without chipping if you take a bit of care, and close to two if you take a lot.

Of course, the nail color isn’t without its drawbacks. The polish takes an eternity to dry due to its thick, viscous quality, and the brush is an odd shape that tends to hold on to too much polish, making spills on your salon table (or in my case, the couch in my TV room,) a lot more likely.  However, for about $7 a bottle, it beats the quality of almost every other drugstore bough nail polish I’ve bought, and eliminates the cost of buying a separate bottle of clear polish for topcoats.
