NOOK Simple Touch using GlowLight feature

The GlowLight feature of the NOOK Simple Touch makes reading in the dark much easier.

Looking for an easier way to read before bed? Tired of carrying around heavy books on vacation? Well the solution cannot be any simpler. Barnes & Noble has released the newest edition of their e-reader, the NOOK Simple Touch with GlowLight. On top of the ease the NOOK already gave us in reading, the new Simple Touch now adds the special GlowLight feature, which saves us the hassle of attaching a separate book light.

I absolutely cannot live without my NOOK. I owned the first edition of the Nook, which I also loved, but whose life did not last very long. I also owned the NOOK Simple Touch without the GlowLight feature. So far, it seems that they have worked out the kinks I found previously in the older models. However, I do recommend purchasing the protection plan because it covers screen damage, which may be likely due to its sensitive nature.

This NOOK is the ideal way of reading and is convenient on every level. The touch screen feature makes it easy to navigate through, but still has the page turning buttons for users who prefer them. The Simple Touch is extremely light, weighing less than 7 ounces. With its extra-long battery life, I can go over a month without worrying about charging.

The Glow Light feature on this e-reader is absolutely amazing and incomparable. It still reads like a book in the sense that it uses electronic ink, or e-ink, yet gives you the ability to read in dim or dark places with a simple button. This feature is perfect for you if you want to “end bedtime reading debate-when you want to read & your partner wants to sleep.” It is essentially a book light that is always attached, never needs to be adjusted or moved, and has to ability to get brighter or darker.

This NOOK is ideal for anyone who is looking for an e-reader solely to read. It has the “fastest, most advanced E Ink display.” With the Simple Touch, you can read anytime anywhere without worrying about the hassle of the weight of a book or even multiple books if you prefer to read multiple books at the same time. I enjoy the fact that I no longer need to worry about finishing a book without having another one to start immediately after. With the NOOK Simple Touch with GlowLight, I have so many books at my disposal, as well as the ability to purchase among 2.5 million titles or rent from a local library.

This image from the Barnes & Noble website shows a price comparison between the NOOK and its major competitor the Kindle. It emphasizes that the GlowLight feature which doesn’t appear in the Kindle model is an added expense.

Pros:

  • Affordable
  • Easy to use Glow Light
  • Conveniently lightweight
  • Extra-long battery life
  • E-ink reads like a book
  • Touch screen makes it easy to turn pages
  • Very user friendly

Cons:

  • Book purchases can only be made from Barnes and Noble
  • Screen is very sensitive and needs constant protection

With the NOOK Simple Touch with GlowLight, you are not only getting the best e-reader on the market, but you are also getting a built in accessory. I read from my NOOK everyday, all times of day, in any setting, and not once have I regretted any penny spent on this phenomenal product.
