If you have dry skin (or eczema, like me), then you too require copious amounts of moisturizer to keep it from flaking and peeling. I have tried a multitude of lotions to prevent this, even ones suggested by doctors; but so far the product I continuously return to is Burt’s Bees Soothingly Sensitive Aloe & Buttermilk Body Lotion.
This lotion (available in a 6 oz tube or 12 oz bottle) boasts ingredients like chamomile, rosemary, and linden extracts, all famous for their soothing attributes. It’s hypoallergenic, absorbs quickly, has a non-greasy formula, and is great for sensitive skin. In my opinion, this product lives up to all of these claims effortlessly.
What I like most about Burt’s Bees Aloe & Buttermilk Body Lotion is simply how it goes on. Its smooth, creamy texture and sweet, light scent make it great for self-pampering–whether you need a dollop for your hands or a handful for your legs. Beeswax makes it feel substantial, giving the impression that you won’t need to continually apply it throughout the day to get the desired effect–and you don’t. One thorough application lasts all day and night. Naturally, washing your hands throughout the day requires re-application, but this lotion has such a clean, straight-out-of-the-shower scent that it’s kind of a treat to put on. Also, it’s 99% natural, which means your conscience can feel just as good as your skin about what’s going into your bloodstream. A clear conscience comes with a price, though–a 12 oz bottle of this lotion costs about $10 online.

- Getting the last of the lotion out of the 6 oz tube is a real pain
- A bit more expensive than similar moisturizers, like Keri Advanced Body Lotion
Whether you’re looking for a superior lotion for dry or sensitive skin, want to switch to a more natural moisturizer, or just trying to change things up with a new scent, Burt’s Bees Soothingly Sensitive Aloe & Buttermilk Body Lotion gets the job done and works all day to do it. If you plan on trying this product, I recommend getting the 12 oz bottle instead of the 6 oz tube, simply because the 12 oz comes with a pump and costs only $2 more for twice the lotion.
