An open tube of Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara

Since the 7th grade, mascara has been the one make up item I will not leave the house without putting on, so you can imagine my quest for the perfect one. Being a 7th grader, I did not have much money, so my quest begins where so many do — the make up aisles of Wal-Mart.

Of the many trials, the ones I remember best left me clumpy, wondering if I had even put ON mascara, or with black flakes accumulating on my cheek bones. Various department store mascaras made my eyelashes stick together in funny spikes instead of delivering the promised length and sex appeal.

Depressed and forlorn, I found myself at Rite-Aid wandering yet another make-up aisle. The pretty jewel toned Revlon mascara tube called to me, and I bought it.

Now, I don’t know very much about this new fangled lash enhancing phyto-peptide formula that complements the natural growth cycle of my lashes and make them grow 500X thicker, but I will stand by Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara Lash Enhancer.

After my many months of using it, I am not sure if my lashes actually ARE thicker, but I can tell you this is the first mascara that has ever made my lashes look this good. The applicator brush is about and inch long and has think bristles. (Brushes with thicker bristles tend to equal thicker lashes I have found.) The mascara itself glides on easily, and it only takes one (or two if you’re anal like me) coats before you feel (and look) like a rock star. This mascara does not weigh down your lashes like some do, in fact it seems to give them a bit of lift, allowing me to pat myself on the back for throwing out my eye lash curler after it ripped out my eyelashes that fateful day in 9th grade.

Pros:

  • Appearance of thicker lashes
  • No residue
  • Even coverage
  • Easy and quick application

Cons:

  • Maybe (just maybe) the “lash enhancing formula” is a hoax, but with results like these, I don’t mind.
  • Maybe you don’t like the color green (which is the color of the mascara tube)

So in conclusion, though this mascara is on the pricier side for a drugstore ($8), that price looks pretty cheap compared to what you might be charged at a department store. My advice? Run, don’t walk, to your nearest local Walgreens and pick up a tube for yourself.

Product Variations– 002 Black, 003 Blackened Brown, 004 Black Shimmer

Another decent thickening mascara– Maybelline Full ‘n Soft
