It is rare to find a face wash that fights acne without over drying the skin. It is even more rare to find such a product that works well in conjunction with a routine of dermatologist prescribed medication. As someone who has been going to the dermatologist for over six years, I am excited to finally find that the Vichy Normaderm Deep Cleansing Gel complements my medication routine without over drying my sensitive skin.
The Vichy Normaderm Deep Cleansing Gel is a gentle acne cleanser for those with combination-dry, sensitive or oily skin. My favorite part of this acne wash is its low salicylic acid content. I have both very dry skin (due to dermatologist medication) and very sensitive skin, and this cleansing gel works great for me. Unlike other cleansing gels which contain 2%, the Vichy Normaderm Deep Cleansing Gel contains only 0.5% of salicylic acid. Because of this change, this acne cleansing gel is gentle enough to use for dry skin caused by use of already drying dermatologist prescribed medication and sensitive skin. The deep cleansing gel is true to its manufacturer’s promise: it keeps the skin clean, refreshing, and free of acne outbreaks.
However, such a great acne wash is not cheap. A 6.7 fl oz of the Vichy Normaderm Deep Cleansing Gel is $17. This price is about three times the average of other acne cleansing gels. Not only is it more expensive than other cleansing gels, the Vichy line of skin care products can only be found in select CVS pharmacies in the United States. If you do not have access to a CVS pharmacy, you would have to place orders online. If the price or availability of the product concerns you, alternatives to the Vichy Normaderm Deep Cleansing Gel include the Clinique Acne Solutions Cleansing Foam, slightly more expensive with similar results, and the Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Foam Cleanser, a lot cheaper but slightly drying to my sensitive skin.
My experience with the Vichy Normaderm Deep Cleansing Gel has proven the product to be a mild yet effective acne cleansing gel that can be incorporated into my daily dermatologist prescribed medication without over drying my sensitive skin. However, the product is only carried by CVS pharmacy, and can be inconvenient if you do not live close to one. The product is a bit more expensive than the average acne cleansing gel, but you get what you paid for: the Vichy Normaderm Deep Cleansing Gel is great at keeping the face clear of acne by cleaning the skin of dirt and oil deep from the surface.
